Learn to engage targets while on the move (dynamic firing line). IPSC style competition with digital scoring. Multiple ranges for use, including jungle lanes.

Safety briefing starts at 1130L (OCT - FEB), and at 1230L (MAR - SEP), unless indicated otherwise on the calendar.

Course Prerequisites:

This course is limited to students who have already completed a basic holster course such as the ABD Holster Course or IPSC Black Badge course. Equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Attendees must be Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) holders or current members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Practical Pistol Concepts is intended for shooters who are already proficient with a handgun and participants must demonstrate safe firearm handling for the duration of the course. Students need to be familiar with the pistol and holster they bring as there isn’t sufficient time in the curriculum to develop familiarity.

Equipment Requirements:

A reliable centrefire handgun and at least 5 reliable magazines***
A rigid, plastic, gun side belt or drop-leg holster that will not collapse after drawing -
holsters must provide active or passive retention and retain the pistol while moving
*SERPA style holsters are prohibited (index finger retention device)
10 dummy rounds or Snap-Caps
At least 2 magazine pouches, more is better
A sturdy belt
Minimum 750 rounds of ammunition, more is better
Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) or SOF Tourniquet and an Individual First Aid Kit
(IFAK) are recommended
Eye and hearing protection
Hat with a brim/toque
Notepad and pen
Appropriate clothing for the weather – we train rain or shine
Gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads are encouraged
Weapons and equipment maintenance items are strongly encouraged
Food and water for the day
Attendees MUST provide their PAL to instructors at the commencement of training and
must adhere to the provisions of the Firearms Act

Master the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship and enhance your ability with ABD’s Practical Pistol Concepts. This intensive two-day program is designed for experienced civilian shooters looking to improve their skills and bring their ability to perform to the next level.

This is not an entry level course, our curriculum verifies a solid foundation of fundamentals such as draw stroke and holstering, efficient firearm manipulations, and malfunctions drills. Students will then rapidly progress to one-handed shooting with both gun and support hand, how to effectively engage targets at close and long distance. This program will evaluate and benchmark various skills and give students the tools and knowledge to train themselves and sharpen their

own abilities once they leave the class.

Course Prerequisites:

This course is limited to students who have already completed a basic holster course such as the ABD Holster Course or IPSC Black Badge course. Equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Attendees must be Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) holders or current members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Practical Pistol Concepts is intended for shooters who are already proficient with a handgun and participants must demonstrate safe firearm handling for the duration of the course. Students need to be familiar with the pistol and holster they bring as there isn’t sufficient time in the curriculum to develop familiarity.

Equipment Requirements:

A reliable centrefire handgun equipped with a Pistol Mounted Optic (PMO)***
At least 5 reliable magazines***
A rigid, plastic, gun side belt or drop-leg holster that will not collapse after drawing -
holsters must provide active or passive retention and retain the pistol while moving
*SERPA style holsters are prohibited (index finger retention device)
10 dummy rounds or Snap-Caps
At least 2 magazine pouches, more is better
A sturdy belt
Minimum 750 rounds of ammunition, more is better
Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) or SOF Tourniquet and an Individual First Aid Kit
(IFAK) are recommended
Eye and hearing protection
Hat with a brim/toque
Notepad and pen
Appropriate clothing for the weather – we train rain or shine
Gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads are encouraged

A: Yes! Online renewals can be completed prior to the key swap. KGAC Executives present will have an updated list of all completed online renewals, so you will not have to bring proof of your online renewal. You can still pay by cash / cheque / Interac / e-Transfer even if renewing online.

FAQ
Q: Do I need (2) separate copies of the front/back scan of my PAL?
A: No! We no longer require copies of your PAL. Your declaration is on the Lease Key Agreement.

Q: Will you have renewal and agreement forms at the Legion that I can fill out?
A: NO! You must bring your completed forms with you to the Legion. Copies WILL NOT be provided on site.

- SKS and similar platforms are permissible for use.
Preferably centerfire rifle and handgun.
Sling for rifle (one or two point).
Gun belt & holster for handgun (sturdy belt).
Mag pouches (both rifle and handgun pouches).
Extra magazines (both rifle and handgun; 3-5 of each are recommended).
Usual shoot is 100 rounds rifle and 50 rounds handgun.
Dump pouch.

Optional equipment:

Sling for rifle is highly recommended (one or two point).
Shotgun (for shotgun section). Trap loads (# 7½ shot) & slugs.
- Pump or semi auto recommended.
