**Please note: until you have submitted payment for the course, your slot is not reserved. Payment is required to hold your slot.**

IMPORTANT: New this year, there are a few points that you must note prior to registration.

    • Due to insurance & liability, IPSC now requires you to purchase your IPSC Alberta membership PRIOR to taking the Black Badge course, instead of afterwards. You are required to purchase an Associate membership on their site (instructions below) before you are eligible to attend the course.
    • Black Badge courses now have a maximum capacity of (10) students per course. Make sure you register early to guarantee your spot!
    • IPSC Members that have not competed at a sanctioned match within the last (12) months need to be re-certified to become recognized (re-cert at the Black Badge course). Members that have not shot at a match within the last (3) years need to retake the full Black Badge course.

    Course Information
The Black Badge is a two day in-depth training course in the safe competitive shooting techniques required not only to compete at IPSC events, but to deliver the confidence and expertise to use handguns in the safest possible manner. The course will be taught by IPSC Grand Master Konstantin Zaitsev.

It is a mandatory course required to shoot IPSC matches in Canada. IPSC is a dynamic shooting sport where the principles of Accuracy, Speed, and Power are balanced in a unique scoring system. It requires competitors to shoot fast and accurately, often shooting on the move and developing techniques and styles to shave off fractions of a second between shots, during reloads and drawing from the holster.

    Purchasing Your IPSC Alberta Membership

New this year, anyone wishing to take the Black Badge course must first purchase an Associate membership with IPSC Alberta. This is for insurance and liability reasons, as the courses are sanctioned by IPSC Alberta. Once you have taken the course and shot your first match, your membership will be upgraded to a regular membership automatically.

Note: You can register for the course on our website FIRST, and then you can purchase your IPSC membership afterwards (that way you'll reserve your spot on the course).

    To purchase your IPSC membership:
    • Visit the IPSC Alberta website at www.ipscalberta.com.
    • Click "Join" in the menu bar.
    • Scroll down and choose your membership level (either "individual - Associate" or "Junior - Associate" depending on age).
    • Click "next" at the bottom of the page, and follow the directions.
    • Payment must be made by credit card through the website (they use the same website platform as KGAC).

    Course Payment Options

    • Credit Card (through the "Register" button on this page).
    • e-Transfer (send to "payments@kgac.ca" - when registering through the website, choose "Invoice Me" rather than "Pay Online").

    Course Information
Project Mapleseed is an apolitical rifle marksmanship training program that focuses on teaching traditional rifle marksmanship from standing, sitting/kneeling, and prone positions in a one day shooting clinic termed a "Mapleseed".  It is a non-profit, all volunteer run organization committed to helping Canadians develop fundamental marksmanship skills, and in the safe handling of firearms.

Project Mapleseed is open to shooters of all ages. The minimum you need is a rimfire rifle, 400 rounds of ammunition and a teachable attitude. Mapleseed is open to all sight types including scopes. The .22LR semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifles are the most commonly seen for their ease of use during the mandatory magazine changes and low ammo cost.  Bring what you have; the shooting fundamentals taught apply to the shooter, not their rifle. The goal is to learn and have fun.

    Duration:

    • Saturday: 08 JUN 2024 - KGAC Lease, 0800L - 1700L.

    Fees:    Adults - $125.00

A Mapleseed event is designed to provide structured and safe rifle fundamentals to hunters and shooters of all ages and provides a solid framework of basic rifleman skills that benefits new and experienced shooters alike. For the new shooter we can teach you to use your rifle safely and also be able to hit your target. For the seasoned shooter we can teach you to shoot more accurately - even out to 500 yards.

The ultimate goal of a "Mapleseed" is to teach students to maintain a 4 minutes of angle (MOA) precision and accuracy,  This translates into being able to put all shots into a 20 inch target at 500 yards. Qualification targets are shot to evaluate progress and for score. The goal is to score 210 points or better on a 40-shot course that has 250 possible points.  This earns the coveted Rifleman’s Patch and is roughly equivalent to scoring Marksman (85%) as member of the infantry in the Canadian Armed Forces.

These are the 2024 Holster Courses.

    Minor Holster qualified persons:

Minors are welcome, and encouraged to participate in this training course (they do not require an RPAL to take the course). Minors will be granted full Holster qualification recognition upon completion of the course.
